Transforming the Lives and Learning of

Young People Through the Arts

Art and Math with Mr Spaceman  |  Jeff Mather

Jeff is not an astronaut, but he is an expert on space, design, and three-dimensional structures that enhance indoor and outdoor spaces. Blending art principles with math concepts makes difficult subjects easier to grasp and much more enjoyable. Choose from the following options:

Shapes in Math (Grades K-5) - Students apply the basic shapes used in architectural drawings to explore size, scale, space, and measurement as they relate to creating three-dimensional artworks.

Tessellation and Design (Grades 5-12) - Students learn how to draw and manipulate tessellated shapes to generate designs similar to ones found in many cultures around the world.

Geometry in Perspective (Grades 5-12) - Public art plus geometry equals a fascinating, hands-on investigation of perspective rendering, the Golden Ratio in design and nature, binocular/stereoscopic vision, and triangulation.
