Adventures with Classic Children's Tales!  |  Caroline Herring

Reading comes alive in this unique adventure of story, song, and illustration based on classic children’s books. Caroline’s solo version includes The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton, Swimmy by Leo Leonni, and Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak.  The trio version, performed along with multi-instrumentalist Marla Feeney and Atlanta jazz guitar icon Charles Williams, includes The Little House and The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Students connect to the essential elements of music and storytelling including audience, story, and ensemble, and see why the Atlanta Journal Constitution called this “a smart and creative undertaking… something special!”

Caroline Herring

Award winning singer and songwriter, Caroline Herring digs deep into the rich soil of American roots music for her sound. Her first album, Twilight, garnered the 2002 Best New Artist award at the Austin Music Awards. Her second album, Wellspring, includes “Mistress,” which was recently named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as one of the 100 greatest songs about the South. Her following album, Lantana, was one of NPR’s Top 10 Folk Albums in 2008, and her 2009 Golden Apples of the Sun received even more praise, including a feature on A Prairie Home Companion and an interview on NPR's All Things Considered. Herring has played such prestigious festivals as MerleFest, the Newport Folk Festival, and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
